Ingredients

  • Mutton (cut into medium size pieces)- 1 lb. (454 grams)
  • Onions (sliced) – 8 oz. (277 grams)
  • Garlic (ground paste) – 2 tablespoonfuls
  • Curd or yogurt – 2 ½ cups
  • Saffron – A pinch (soaked in 2 tablespoonfuls of water)
  • Cream – 2 cups
  • Ghee or butter – 6 oz. (170 grams)
  • Blanched almonds – 2 oz. (57 grams)
  • Coriander (powder) – 1 oz. (58 grams)
  • Cloves – 5
  • Cinnamon – 1
  • Black pepper – ¼ teaspoonful
  • Red chili (powder) – ¼ teaspoonful
  • Ground Onions – 4 tablespoonfuls
  • Turmeric (powder) – 1 teaspoonful
  • Bay leaves – 2
  • Mace (powder) – 1 teaspoonful
  • Nutmeg – ¼ teaspoonfuls
  • Salt – To taste

Instructions

  • Soak mutton in garlic paste, yogurt or cued, coriander powder, red chili powder and salt for 4 to 5 hours.
  • Fry the sliced onions to a brown color in the given quantity of fat.
  • Add mutton mixture and all other ingredients except cream, almonds and saffron.
  • Cook all these on a low fire till the meat is tender.
  • Add saffron, cream and blanched almonds and simmer it on a low fire about 10 to 15 mins.
  • Serve it hot with chapattis or nan.
